Masses of orange

This recipe is very easy to prepare and I guarantee you that these masses of orange are delicious. Fluffy and covered in a moist layer of sweetened, are ideal to accompany a cup of coffee.

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 100 gr butter (melted)
  • 1 egg medium
  • 1 orange (the zest and the juice)
  • 2 cups of self-rising flour (maybe a little more)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • baking powder royal
  • 1 cup confectioners ' sugar
  • warm water and a little orange juice extra


First we're going to turn on the oven to go due to preheating, leave it at moderate while we cook.

Place the granulated sugar in a bowl and add the butter. Mix well with a spoon until both ingredients form a smooth paste. Add the egg and mix well. Then grate the peel of an orange (well washed) and incorporate into our preparation. Add then the juice of almost all the orange (depending on how strong we want you to be our recipe, we use half an orange or whole).

Mix well and add a cup of self-rising flour with a teaspoon of baking powder. Mix well adding a little milk (half of recommended). Should we go checking that the mixture has a texture neither too liquid nor too lumpy. Add the other cup of flour with baking powder. You do need to add a little more milk or flour. Attention! It should have a spongy texture to our dough).

Grease and flour a mold of between 20 and 22 cm, rectangular. Pour the dough into the mold, matching the edges well and bring to a moderate oven for between 20 and 25 minutes. The dough should not be very golden. You can prick with a toothpick or knife to see if it is cooked. Remove and let cool.

Once cool, let's prepare the topping. for this we use a cup of powdered sugar and add a tablespoon of warm or hot water, and one or two tablespoons of orange juice. Mix well forming a paste-white that can work but is not very liquid, add sugar or water if needed (the same coverage can be done with a 250 gr of powdered sugar, will be more thick and sweet). Cover the cake with the preparation. You need to use a spoon hot medium to match the coverage.

Cut into squares and serve with coffee.
